Passports / Visas
British
citizens holding valid British passports do not require visas
to travel to Morocco. The period of stay as a visitor is limited
to three months but may be extended on request at police stations
in Morocco. Much of the Western Sahara is under military jurisdiction
and travel is subject to restriction.
There is no United Kingdom diplomatic representation in the territory and normal consular services are not available. Travel outside the tourist areas is not recommended. If a child is travelling to Morocco on the passport of a parent or another person, then that passport must bear a photograph of the child.
Work
and residence permits are issued at the request of the company
concerned to foreign nationals who possess the appropriate professional
qualifications. Foreign investors wishing to obtain a residence
permit must present themselves at the Central Police station of
their place of residence.
Travel regulations are liable to change at short notice and in case of doubt intending visitors are advised to consult their travel agent or the Moroccan Consul in the United Kingdom before departure.

Health insurance
It
is essential to take out full medical insurance when visiting
Morocco as there are no reciprocal healthcare agreements between
Morocco and the UK.
Health regulations
Visitors must be vaccinated against cholera if they come from an infected area. Vaccination against smallpox is required only when travelling from an infected zone. Morocco is non-malarial.
Travel routes to Morocco
Air
British Airways and Royal Air Maroc have flights to and from London and serve Casablanca daily. There are comfortable airport bus services to Casablanca and Rabat as well as a train shuttle from the airport to Casablanca and vice versa. Large white Mercedes taxis are also available for a cost of DH200 for a single journey to the city (DH250 during the evening).
Low cost carriers are also scheduling flight to Morocco in 2006. Easyjet being one fo the first.
There is at present no airport departure tax.
Sea
There are regular drive-on-drive-off car ferry services from Algeciras to Tangier, and from Sete in France to Tangier. There is a passenger service from Gibraltar to Tangier. Details of sailings to Morocco can be obtained from the Moroccan National Tourist Office.
Travelling By Road
There
are facilities for hiring cars in the principal towns. Driving
is on the right. Standards range from disciplined to extremely
erratic. Best expect the unexpected. At unmarked junctions, vehicles
approaching from the right have right of way priorite a droite.
Driving at night is especially hazardous, particularly in rural
areas. Beware of unlit and/or slow moving vehicles, cyclists and
pedestrians.
Hotels
There
are many reasonably priced hotels used by visitors (together with
the more expensive four and five star hotels) in the major centres
in Morocco. Visitors are advised to confirm prices when making
reservations.
Electricity supply
Electricity is supplied everywhere at 50 cycles AC. 110-127v is still the most common voltage but new installations are all 220v. Voltage for industrial users is 210-220v and 380v. Bayonet type light fittings and continental round 2-pin plugs are both commonly used.
Hours of business
The weekly holiday is Saturday and Sunday. Shops are open all day Saturday and some on Sunday.
