The Costa del Sol is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. It has great diversity with something to offer for almost everyone and is becoming increasingly popular choice for property purchasing, as holiday homes or permanent residences.
The Costa del Sol is located on the east and west of Malaga in Andalucia. Andalucia is a varied region where an increasing number of people are seeking to buy Spanish Property.
The climate is the winters are mild and the summers hot without becoming over bearing. The province also boasts a wide variety of cities, coastal resorts and countryside from the jet set lifestyle of Marbella to miles of unspoiled and protected countryside peppered with white villages.
Eastern Costa del Sol:
To the East of Malaga, there is 54km of Coast which is highly developed for a tourism and very different to the western side. Most hotel accommodation is centred around the area of Nerja.
East of Malaga there is a cliff of up to 200m where the Sierra Almijara joins the sea. This section ends at Mara on a coastal plain. It has an urban landscape surrounded by traditional agriculture and in the limestone hills is Nerja cave. Nerja is surrounded with tourist pueblos. At the foot of Nerja a winding footpath joins several coves.
Western Costa del Sol:
The west enjoys 100 km of coastline from Malaga to the Cadiz provincial border. This part of the Spanish coast is very popular with international tourists. Malaga International Airport (8 km west of the city) and the N340 backbone coast highway. In the middle of the Costa the much improved district road from San Pedro de Alcantara inland to the historic town of Ronda. Of course one cannot ignore, Marbella, Puerto Banus, Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Calahonda, Mijas and the many other well known towns and villages of this are aof Spain where so many people have bought a property in the sun.
Costa del Sol Beaches:
The most all year round tourist destination in Europe, the Costa del Sol has numerous magnificent and well-kept beaches. The average water temperature is 18 C (24 C in August). You will also be pleasantly surprised at the quality, choice and cost of the available property here, including traditional remodelled farmhouses, spacious villas, convenient apartments and small town houses. Exclusive homes especially near Marbella can be into the millions.
Watersports and Activities:
Paragliding at Ronda la Vieja or Valle de Abdalajis, ballooning over Ronda with Aviacion del Sol (as a passenger or as a pupil on a flying course), potholing in the Cueva del Gato, water parascending in Puerto Banus, diving, windsurfing and off road adventures on the trails through the mountains.
